6.0 is coming !
Last Monday, I had the opportunity to attend a meetup from Elastic where their latest version was presented: 6.0. Elastic has done a tremendous job since version 2 of their stack. With version 6, they are make elasticsearch easier to use, simpler to maintain, and more accessible to users.
The presentation was split into 3 parts, each one of them dedicated to ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana. Globally, version 6.0 brings more ease of use of Elasticsearch. Elasticsearch updates will focus on performance, with faster sorted queries, replication and no more use of types in the schemas. Logstash updates will focus on making the editing of the configuration files easier, and the data processing easier to debug and monitor. Finally, Kibana updates will focus on making the interface easier to use, with CSV exports, full screen modes, and alerting.
Version 6.0 should be released by Q1 2018.
When the video record of meetup is online, I will edit this post and add it in the end of it. In the meantime, you will find here the takeway of Camilo Sierra’s presentation
